A juicy and delicious Bordeaux blend that is aromatic, seamless, silky and remarkably fresh. From a single vineyard. Medium- to full-bodied and mouthwatering, with a very long finish. Drink or hold. — Courtney Humiston
The 2023 FIGGINS Red Wine is a dazzling blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot which were all sourced from the Figgins Estate Vineyard, outside the town of Walla Walla. Once on the nose this takes on dried sage and wintergreen aromas that parade with green bell pepper, dark chocolate shavings and shades of blackberry compote. The palate is deep, layered and lush, with its unctuous texture and vibrant tension that flows through the veins of this beauty. Finishing long with loads of stony minerals and intense black fruits, with Turkish coffee accents, enjoy this stunning wine now and over the next twenty plus years. This is definitely on par with the dazzling ’22 edition, displaying slightly less stony minerality and showing up more overt with slightly better flavor density. Unlike the ’22, it can be approached right now. However, be sure to give it several hours in the decanter if savoring now. Drink 2026-2050- 98
A rich and redolent blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, this estate wine spent nearly two years in French oak barrels that were 64% new and 36% once-filled and neutral. Its ripe black cherry and bittersweet dark chocolate aromas are accented by touches of orange peel and balsa. The wine's boysenberry pie, blueberry fruit leather and saline flavors are buoyed by velvety tannins and bright acidity. A texture as supple as a calfskin glove is the cherry on top for this pleasurable wine. Drink now through 2040. — Michael Alberty
